From Coworkers to Cofounders: Redefining IT for Growth and Impact
CHS InTech has been part of the Flagship community since the early 2000s, well before the company officially launched in 2017.
Cofounders Erik Fricke and James Gray started working together more than twenty years ago in Anderson University’s IT department. From those early beginnings, they shared a dream of starting their own IT company—one that would offer a more comprehensive approach. Their goal was to transform IT from a basic utility into a service that drives efficiency and supports business growth, while still remaining affordable.
In 2017, they turned that dream into reality by founding CHS InTech guided by a clear mission: 'We strive to help our partners grow by finding new ways to make your company run smoother and more efficient.'
Today, CHS InTech is a full-service, Anderson-based IT provider offering a wide range of services, from network cabling and printing to cybersecurity and custom software development. With a commitment to personalized service, their team of five supports small and medium-sized businesses, as well as individuals, with their technology needs.
Although the business briefly expanded into the Indianapolis area, Erik and James ultimately felt called back to their roots in Madison County. Their longstanding connection to Flagship, originating from their work at Anderson University and their installation of AU’s disaster recovery system (still housed in the Flagship building), helped make the decision to plant their business in Flagship’s building.
CHS InTech has now called Flagship Enterprise Center home for two years.
James speaks highly of the experience, stating, “The staff has been so friendly and helpful. Whether it’s finding a conference room for a meeting or being a sounding board for ideas, Terry, Jennifer, and the rest of the staff have been fantastic.”
Their favorite way to get involved in the Flagship community is to join the monthly building-wide lunches, where they enjoy pizza and connect with other members of the community. They’ve also provided IT services to both Flagship and Bankable, plus several other community members.
James adds, “If I haven't made it clear yet, we absolutely love the Flagship community!”
When asked if James could give one piece of advice to other entrepreneurs, he shared, “Get out there and sell yourself. It can be hard to get people to take notice, so be bold and let them know what they are missing by not engaging with your business.”
From a shared vision at Anderson University to a thriving business rooted in the community, CHS InTech’s story is a testament to the power of vision, partnership, and staying true to your mission.
