Charles Staley, President and CEO
Chuck Staley is a true visionary whose life demonstrates his belief in servant leadership. A life-long resident of Anderson, he has served Anderson University, the City of Anderson, and Madison County for over 35 years, in a wide range of capacities. He has a consuming passion to see his home community experience economic and spiritual revitalization, and he devotes a large part of his day doing whatever he can to see that dream come true. Chuck has served as the FEC’s President and CEO since its inception in 2003. He earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees from Ball State University. Chuck and his wife Lynn, have been married for over 40 years, and share their lives with daughter Catherine, son-in-law Seth, and granddaughter Raelyn. Chuck and Lynn are also the proud parents of son, David, whose memory is forever cherished. Chuck is a veteran of the Viet Nam conflict serving in the First Marine Division.
Adam Hoeksema, Director of Loan Programs
After graduating from Taylor University in 2010, Adam joined the Flagship team to help launch the new Flagship Microloan Program. Adam loves working with microloan clients, developing new software and systems to streamline the loan program, and dreaming about ways to increase our impact for Indiana small businesses. Adam is also an entreprenuer at heart, he co-founded ProjectionHub with his brother in 2012, and can't help but try to solve problems by developing new software solutions. He is a Christ follower, husband, Chicago Bears fan, a wannabe organic farmer and father to a brand new baby boy, Eli.
Thonja Nicholson, Administration and Facilities Manager
Thonja (pronounced "Tonya") moved to Anderson from Ft. Wayne in the sixth grade, graduated from Highland High School and has a B.S. from Anderson University in Organizational Leadership. She enjoys being the person behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly. Thonja is married to Gary and together they have three children: Jenni (married to Jordan), Amy (married to Larry) and Josh. She and Gary have eight precious grandchildren: Bentley, Emerson, Cannon, Callie, Maxwell, Samson, Cason and Zachariah. Thonja also loves to read, serve in the community, is very active in her church and strives to do everything to the glory and honor of God.
Casey Contos, Underwriting and Compliance Manager
Casey, who hails from Anderson, completed his MBA at Anderson University. He worked for over eight years for a local community bank with over seven years of that time serving as a commercial credit analyst. He received his bachelor’s degree from The University of Alabama in Commerce & Business Administration, with a concentration in marketing. While at Alabama, he competed as a member of the university’s water ski team. Away from work, Casey remains an avid competitive water skier and is active at his church.
Carole Freeman, Loan Processing Specialist
Carole is a life-long resident of Anderson who comes to FEC after 10 years at Anderson University with her early career being spent as an assistant to a local attorney and 14 years as a 911 dispatcher. She is a Christ-follower and actively involved in her church through worship & children’s ministries, community group leadership, and wherever else she may be asked to help. Considered a “crazy Colts fan” by many, Carole also loves NASCAR, co-ed church softball, hiking, and just about anything that gets her outside. When asked about her greatest accomplishment, Carole will proudly proclaim that to be her three children: David, Hannah, & Laura. Seeing their successes in life validates every up and down in parenting. Carole is also Nana to three year old Lilyan and soon-to-be grandson, Jaxon.
Kyle May, Accounting Manager
Kyle was born and raised in northern Indianapolis. After attending Carmel High School, he attended Grace College where he received a B.S. in Accounting and Business Administration and where he continues to work on his MBA. Kyle plans on attaining his CPA and CMA certificate after completing his MBA in the summer of 2016. Away from work, he spends his time following his sports teams, playing his favorite board games with friends, and working in his own company. He also loves to be a counselor at Quaker Haven Camp and leads youth group events at his local church.
Dirk Webb, Business Development Manager
After spending 25 years in the IT industry, Dirk represents FEC in Central Indiana presenting to local Chambers of Commerce and EDC's. A published children's author and freelance writer, he is also a poor golfer, amateur musician and master of useless trivia. A Colts fan since their Baltimore days, Dirk also loves the Atlanta Braves, the Indiana Pacers and traveling with his wife, Natalie. He is a father, grandfather and devoted follower of Christ. Dirk has a BA and MBA from Anderson University, serves on the Madison County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is a former Chairman of Liberty Christian School.
Kyle Fawcett, Business Advisor
Kyle was born and raised in Decatur, a small farm town in Northern Indiana. A graduate of Anderson University studying Marketing and Information Systems, he enjoys spending his time outdoors while playing disc golf, camping, or taking an adventurous hike but also enjoys staying in to watch a new movie or read a J.R.R. Tolkien Novel. Kyle has always found it important to stay active whether that’s going for a run or playing basketball, and his love for sports carries over into being a passionate fan. Nearly every weekend you can find him cheering on the Everton Toffees, the Columbus Crew, or the Indiana Hoosiers. Kyle loves spending time with his beautiful fiancé, Julie, who he plans to marry in the summer of 2016 and together they choose to believe and follow Jesus Christ.
Jordan Poortenga, Loan Officer
Jordan, originally from Grand Rapids Michigan, graduated from Anderson University with a degree in Marketing. The first few years of Jordan’s career were spent in marketing research where he developed his skills in business analytics, research, and creative problem solving. Jordan has developed a passion for the economic development of Central Indiana and more specifically Anderson where he lives with his wife Ashley. Jordan also enjoys music, fishing, and any chance he can get to spend time with the people he loves.
Sarah VanOrman, Loan Officer
Sarah is originally from Michigan and is a recent graduate of Butler University majoring in Marketing. She is a basketball fanatic and her favorite pastime is cheering on the Butler Bulldogs. She enjoys running, reading, volunteering, and catching up on her favorite shows. Sarah loves visiting Indianapolis and exploring new areas, especially when she's able to do so with her friends and family.
Samuel Cerny, Loan Officer
Samuel will be returning for his junior year at Anderson University. He is majoring in Finance with a concentration in Investments. Samuel was born in Wisconsin, but has lived in Marion, Indiana since infancy. He enjoys playing the beautiful game of soccer at a collegiate level on the AU Men’s Team, and also enjoys playing pickup and intramural basketball in his free time. Samuel thoroughly enjoys March Madness and the upsets and competitiveness that comes with the tournament. He is blessed to be able to be able to spend time with his family, who have taught him how to follow Jesus Christ.
Josh McElroy, Loan Officer
Josh is a Peoria, IL native who is pursing a degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at Taylor University. He is a Summer 2016 intern with Flagship and relishes the chance to work at an organization that puts theory into practice and changes lives through microlending. In his spare time Josh enjoys going to the gym, working on his problematic motorcycle, playing guitar and picking up a good book. Josh's faith is central to his life and he sees his vocation as an extension of Christ's call to show love "not in word and speech, but in action and truth."
Danielle Deal, Accountant
Danielle grew up on a hobby farm in northeast Indiana. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting at Grace College and is excited to get her feet wet in the accounting world at Flagship. As a lifelong country gal, Danielle loves raising chickens and giving them unusual names like Megumi, Mr. Knightly, and Figaro. She also enjoys expressing her creative side through painting, sketching, and creating elaborate works of fiction in her head that will probably never get written down. When not involved in work or these other activities, you can probably find her reading in bed.
