Local Chamber Leader Steps Down

“The time is right for change,” said Keith Pitcher when talking about his retirement from his role as president of the Anderson and Madison County Chamber of Commerce. Pitcher reflected fondly on his memories and successes over the past 13 years of his career.

“I am proud of the partnership we created with the Corporation of Economic Development but our main objective was to always support existing businesses in our county in growth,” says Pitcher.

Pitcher worked hard to promote good communication avenues for the Chamber members. He states “I expanded communication with the newspaper with the “Chamber Beat” and partnered with WHBU and WQME to broadcast our events and feature our members, giving them free airtime.”

Pitcher was also strong in his efforts to foster good relationships with elected officials. “It is important to have good relationships with our state representatives so that we can address the issues and concerns that affect our business members.”

Pitcher also states that he is “bullish on Anderson and Madison county in the next three to five years.” The Chamber of Commerce for Anderson and Madison County is primed for growth and innovation and a lot of that is due to Pitcher’s decision to move the Chamber to the Flagship Enterprise Center. “It would be hard for the Chamber to interact with the new high technology companies moving into the area, like Coeus Technology and Bright Automotive, if we were not in this location.”

This is a great opportunity for Madison County. Indianapolis is moving north on interstate 69 and Anderson is strategically positioned for economic development and business growth. “I think the next three to five years are going to be good for Anderson and Madison County because of our location and the fact that Indianapolis is moving up interstate 69,” Pitcher said. Bringing on a new Chamber President will only enhance and strengthen the growth Anderson is already experiencing.

Pitcher has done a lot of great work for the Chamber and although there is sadness with his retirement there is excitement in the possibilities that come with a new President. The way businesses communicate and network have changed dramatically in the last five years and there is a great expectation to bring on a President who can implement these changes effectively to support business growth and development in the Anderson and Madison County area.
