Flagship Enterprise Center Joins Environmental Initiatives

The Flagship Enterprise Center has become a member of two state-wide environmental initiatives, the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce Green Business Initiative and the Central Indiana Clean Air Partnership. The two memberships come through a continued effort of the FEC and its clients to create environmentally responsible business solutions.

Serving Indianapolis and the surrounding areas, the mission of the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce’s Green Business Initiative is to promote the interest of businesses that are committed and engaged in environmentally responsible operations and practices, also known as “green” business practices. Members of the Green Business Initiative pledge to continually work toward environmentally safe and sustainable business practices and operations to ensure that the greater Indianapolis region is environmentally healthy and viable. The Flagship joins dozens of companies in varying industries as a member of the initiative.

Started in August of 2007, the Central Indiana Clean Air Partnership (CICAP) is made up of companies choosing to implement environmentally friendly measures that will increase employee awareness of air quality, supporting Indiana’s Knozone education program and reducing the amount of air pollution generated during both personal and business activities. Flagship CEO Chuck Staley says that he hopes joining both these organizations serves as an example to its clients and other businesses in the area. “We believe that the “going green” initiative has encouraged businesses to become more environmentally responsible in their operations and practices,” he says. “At the Flagship, entrepreneurs now expect that energy efficiency and environmentally friendly products are the standard.”

The environmental efforts of the FEC are also being combined with those of Anderson University to enhance programs like recycling and energy conservation. “Through our association with Anderson University,” says Staley, “we were able to collaborate with their green initiatives and recycling efforts.” He continues, “The recycling grant awarded to the university allowed us to quickly adopt their green practices, such as a comprehensive recycling program to the Flagship and many of our clients.”
