Global Student Solutions Finds Success and Support

Anderson, Ind. —Anderson Business Incubator client Global Student Solutions (GSS) says they are truly starting to make a world of difference!  GSS has seen marked growth in the last several months and recently hosted a 3-on-3 basketball tournament to raise awareness and funds for their organization.  GSS works to serve the unique needs of international students by connecting them with other students and offering personal guidance and support.

Global Student Solutions president and founder Scott Martin says that charity tournament wouldn’t have been possible without the support of a number of community members.  “We are so grateful to Stefan and Amy Dobrikovi,” says Martin, “for their generous efforts in organizing the Global Student Solutions Charity Basketball tournament, and to Bethany Christian Church for the use of their facilities.”  A dozen teams competed in the tournament, each paying an entry fee that supported GSS.  Martin adds, “The generous donations in the form of entry fees were a welcome assistance in GSS operating costs as we gear up for our summer internship program.”

GSS sees the struggling economy as an indication of an even greater need for their services, says Martin.  “The tough economy does make our challenge of starting a non-profit a little greater,” he admits, “but it also means that the students need us more as well. With all the different aspects of running the organization, when a couple like Mr. and Mrs. Dobrikovi step forward to put together an event like this benefit tournament it is a real boost to us.”

After a year of tremendous growth in membership, GSS has now networked with hundreds of global students studying in the United States.  Throughout its growing process, GSS has continued to pursue venues to engage more and more global students.  GSS hopes to continue to expand by adding more students to its team.  Martin is proud to be offering internships, in varying fields, for the first time.  “This first year has been really exciting as we have connected in some way with over 600 global students,” he says, “but I am really excited about this summer. I know how important it is for students to have internships and get experience before they head into the job market.”  Martin continues, “I also recognize the impact a burst of energy from a group can have on our organization.”

Global Student Solutions is a nonprofit organization established in 2008 by global students to serve global students.  Specifically, GSS aims to equip global students studying in the United States for success.  Founder, Scott Martin, served as Anderson University’s Director of International Student Services for nine years before joining eight others to create GSS.  Further information can be found at www.globalstudentweb.org.
